About Me

Findlay Ironside (she/her) is an emerging screenwriter and filmmaker, and a graduate candidate in the MFA Scriptwriting and Story Design program at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). Her work largely focuses on slice of life, female driven narratives that tend to be dark in nature, but balanced by hopeful undertones. She enjoys dissecting difficult and emotional subject matter, and exploring tenuous family relationships in her writing. The script for her upcoming film, Family Portraits, has received over a dozen laurels, and most notably won the Raindance Film Festival script contest at the Oscar / BAFTA qualifying festival this past summer. Currently, she is also one of ten students from across North American participating in an emerging filmmakers incubator program through Film Independent in partnership with Hieronyvision.

Alongside longtime friend, Amanda Werger, Findlay recently founded a production company: Jane of All Trades Productions – a female led, Ontario based production company striving to tell diverse and inclusive narratives that highlight the human condition, with a focus on womxn centric stories.
Outside of her filmmaking aspirations, Findlay is also a published children's author, working costume designer, experienced photographer, and special education coordinator.
